Donald McIntyre is a celebrated operatic bass-baritone who forged a career largely in the Wagner repertoire.

A major accomplishment was his Wotan in the Ring Cycle at Bayreuth, which was recorded and filmed in 1979, conducted by Pierre Boulez and directed by Patrice Chéreau.

Also on DVD is his performances of "Der Fliegende Holländer" (1974), and as Orest in the now legendary performance of "Elektra"(1980) conducted by James Levine, with Birgit Nilsson, "Die Meistersinger" (1990) conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, "Arabella" (1994) with fellow New Zealander Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and another "Elektra" (1994) conducted by Jimmy Levine.

Here, Donald McIntyre is pictured in one of his signature roles, that of Wotan in The Ring Cycle by Wagner.
