Anne Sofie von Otter

Anne Sofie von Otter is a Swedish mezzo-soprano.
She made her operatic début in 1983 in Haydn's Orlando Paladino as Alcina
She made her Royal Opera House, debut at Covent Garden in 1985 - her La Scala debut in 1987 and her Metropolitan Opera début (playiang Cherubino) in 1988.
She has enjoyed considerable success in the roles of Mozart, Handel, and Monteverdi and she also been a highly successful recitalist and concert stage performer with many recordings to her credit. In 2003 Anne Sofie Von Otter was awarded a Rolf Schock Prize in the musical arts category.
In 2006 she sang the evangelist in the premiere performance of Sven-David Sandström's Ordet En Passion in Stockholm. She is married to Benny Fredriksson, an actor and theatre director, and has two children.
